EDUCATION FOR ALL

Take action to help us grow

Focus
Area

India's 453M internal migrants include 181M children. Migrants prioritize survival over education, facing barriers like documentation and admissions. Nomadic Banjara communities suffer worse, with unstable homes and no schooling access, leaving nearly all their children without education opportunities.

The Reality

India's population is 1,428M, with 213M below the poverty line, including 84M children lacking education. For others, education quality is poor. The foundational age (3–6 years) has 90M+ children, but government spending is under ₹2,500 annually. We need “Right to Equal Quality Education.”

Current Status

We’ve made progress supporting underprivileged children, impacting lives one at a time. With millions in need, even small efforts matter. Together, we can create lasting change. Help us give these children the chance to learn, grow, and realize their true potential.

Our Misson

We support migrant and Banjara children in Gurugram and Delhi with informal literacy, school admissions, and education funding. Initiatives include co-managing a government school, enhancing academics, capacity-building, governance, and community engagement, while providing books, English skills, and college fee support.

What We Do

Street Schools: Bringing Education to the Doorstep

For children who have never had the opportunity to attend school, we run street schools in underserved communities. These schools provide basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills to children who are otherwise excluded from the formal education system. Our dedicated teachers and volunteers work in challenging environments to ensure that every child gets a chance to experience the joy of learning.

Mainstreaming Education: Bridging the Gap to Formal Schools

We believe in the power of formal education to transform lives. For children who show potential and readiness, we facilitate their admission into government or NGO-run schools. By providing the necessary support and guidance, we help these children transition from informal learning environments to structured educational systems, giving them a stronger foundation for their future.

Books Sponsorship: Ensuring Access to Learning Materials

Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the government provides free books to children up to class 8. However, from class 9 onwards, this support ceases. To bridge this gap, Pehla Akshar sponsors books for students in class 9 and beyond, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress. We believe that access to learning materials is a fundamental right, and we are committed to making it a reality for every child.

College Fee Support: Paving the Way for Higher Education

Higher education is often out of reach for children from underprivileged families due to financial barriers. Pehla Akshar steps in to support deserving students by sponsoring their college admission fees, tuition fees, and exam fees. By alleviating the financial burden, we enable these young minds to pursue their dreams and unlock their full potential.

Open School Education: A Second Chance at Learning

For children who are unable to attend regular schools due to various challenges, we sponsor their education through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). This initiative provides flexible learning opportunities, allowing students to complete their education at their own pace and in a manner that suits their circumstances.

Sponsoring Bright Minds: Nurturing Future Leaders

We identify and support bright students from underprivileged families who have excelled in their class 10 exams and aspire to pursue higher education in fields like engineering, medicine, and other professional courses. Through scholarships and mentorship, we empower these young achievers to overcome financial barriers and achieve their academic and career goals.

Bridging Learning Gaps with Free Tuitions for Govt and Low-Income Private School Children

Children in government and low-income private schools face major learning gaps due to poor teaching, lack of home support, and overcrowded living conditions. Many fall behind, especially with the “No-Fail” policy till Class 8. Our Nukkad Pathshala offers free tuitions for Classes 6–10, helping students catch up, build confidence, and reduce dropout rates through focused academic support.
